The Alipore Zoological Gardens is India’s oldest formally stated zoological park and a big tourist attraction in Kolkata, West Bengal. It has been open as a zoo since 1876, and covers 18.81 ha. It is probably best known as the home of the now expired Aldabra giant tortoise Adwaita, which was reputed to have been over 250 years old when it died in 2006.

Chintamoni Kar Bird Sanctuary situated at south Kolkata and near Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission. This is also known as Kayal-r Bagan. This garden is famous for availability of wide variety of birds, butterflies, ferns and orchids.

Bibhutibhusan Wildlife Sanctuary is an animal sanctuary in North 24 Parganas district in Indian state of West Bengal. Situated on the banks of river Ichamati covering an area of 68 km2 it has more than 200 deer, birds, rabbit and a large number of langurs. It also has a children’s park, a small zoo and a tourist lodge of the forest department.

New Town Eco Park is an urban park in Rajarhat, Kolkata. The park is situated on a 480 acres plot and is surrounded by a 104 acres waterbody with an island in the middle.

Central Park situated in Bidhannagar is a public urban park. It is also known as Banabitan. It is the second largest open space in the city of Kolkata after the Maidan. It is a favorite hangout for lovers. This park is easily reachable from the Karunamoyee bus stand in Salt Lake – the Central Park Kolkata Metro station is projected to work in 2015. On the roads surrounding the park are the buildings where the West Bengal government has relocated many government departments.

Rabindra Sarobar is an artificial lake in south Kolkata in the Indian state of West Bengal. The name also refers to the area surrounding the lake. It is flanked by Southern Avenue to the North, Rashbehari Avenue(Russa Road) to the West, Dhakuria to the East and the Kolkata Suburban Railway tracks to the south.
